Week 2A: Overview of Social Media

In my life, there seems to be an obvious social media site that I would be most likely to use for personal reasons, that being Facebook. Since I am young and have older family members that aren’t too tech-savvy and live outside of the United States it has proven to be the most efficient way of staying in touch. It allows you to post pictures and videos as well as written messages in a simple way. It is also less on the artistic side and more so for staying up to date and posting fast. The facebook-owned app “Whatsapp” is another main reason I see Facebook as a personal use platform. By linking your account you can easily contact family and friends out of the country without having to pay for international messaging and calls. At some point in the near future, I want to have my own clothing boutique. Week 1A: My Template

After a day of going back and forth between themes I finally decided on the contempo template. Initially I was drawn towards the more minimalist templates that had neutral colors and simple fonts. However, I kept finding myself going back to brighter templates with fun designs. Coming back a day later I realized my two choices were reflecting how I am when it comes to my clothes, art, and home. I love the look of a simple design due to how timeless it is. On the other hand I love bright colors and bold designs because it often is more expressive of your character. My template choice reflects both styles I have. It has a bold pattern on the background but is a darker color which helps it not be so overwhelming. Then the pop of color adds a playful feel and ties in with the background image. All in all I wanted something that would be fun and simple and I think I was able to achieve the look I wanted.
