Week 16B: Planning Your Future Strategy & Wrapping up the Class

As we close out this semester to remember I can certainly say I've gained new knowledge form this class!  To begin with, I wanted to take this class because I do plan on starting a business in the future and I know how important it is to use social media effectively to help your business progress. As surprising as it is to many I'm a Gen Z with no social media. For my personal life, I never saw social media as something that was necessary but rather a big distraction for me. However, throughout my college career, I have been reminded of how essential it is to incorporate it into the marketing mix of your business. I don't think I will ever be into using social media for my personal life I can proudly say that I have changed the way I view it. With so many people nowadays making a living off of social media they still have a brand whether the brand is their face or a product/service. At the end of the day, many people are just looking for a way to promote. Going into ...

Week 16A: Planning Your Future Strategy & Wrapping up the Class

With all the information I have attained this semester some things have become very clear to me. One being that for my business I want to start Instagram and Twitter are great starting point for me as far as social media platforms go. The reason being that. Instagram is image-based with a younger audience Both are fun/artistic platforms  Twitter is good for start-up business trying to get recognition Twitter allows you to show brands personality and interact easily Later down the road, I would get into using Facebook for two reasons. The main one being that my target market/audience does not use Facebook nearly as much as other social media platforms. Second, is that it is personally more complicated for me to use than other sights and I would like to get more familiar with it before I start using it to get my business out there. I would also 100% get a newsletter sign up on my website to keep in touch with my true customers. My favorite platform for my clothing business...

Week 15B: Optimizing Yourself and the Company

The most interesting part for me when it comes to the analytics Facebook provides is the "Your fans, people reached, and people engaged". By providing you with this information it lets you know more or less how you should structure the content you're putting out. For your pages, the audience is 60% male. This allows you to see if that is what your business is aiming towards or if you need to change how you're advertising so that you can flip the 40% female to 60%. Also being able to see where the people who like your page and engage with your page are from. This will tell you if you should open up in another city or if you need to take your business international. Another super useful tool is post "Reach". This will show you how many people are seeing your post and distinguish between organic reach and paid reach. By separating the two you can see if paying is something that would benefit you and if you're paying is it really worth the price. Reactions,...

Week 15A: Optimizing Yourself and the Company

With google analytics, there are so many options to focus on depending on what you're trying to achieve for your business. As someone with a clothing store GVBY Boutique, I would first want to know my demographic. If my brand is for people ages 17-25 but the people I'm targeting are in their 30's then I need to reassess my marketing to have it be reaching the people intended for. Next, I would want to know where people are coming from, where my traffic is from. This will also allow me to optimize my marketing strategy. It can show me what platform I should focus on and which platform is not bring ing in any traffic and what might need to change. Lastly, I would want to look at content and how it is performing. This will help me know what type of clothes my audience is more drawn to helping me when it comes to stocking new items and knowing if they are going to sell or not.

Week 14: Developing Online Advertising

Image
The first post is for Instagram. I have noticed that when it comes to Instagram you do have to post a nice photo to get recognition. My objective for the post was to draw attention to new clothes that have been added to the store. This is why for this ad post I decided to keep it more serious adding in a beautiful product shot photo encouraging people to shop our latest looks. While also not sounding like a salesperson. The second post is for Facebook. The objective of this add is to get people to buy from my business. The ad is effective because rather than being blatantly explicit telling a customer to go buy something you're adding in a fun little game to make them excited to go on your site. For a clothing business its beneficial to be fun and creative rather than black and white sticking to a script. The third post is for Twitter. When it comes to twitter it is very text-driven rather than images or videos as well as not being a site where people are serious. That i...

Week 13B: Online Advertising - Analysis of the Marketplace

Facebook has many options when it comes to advertising on their platform. Some of which include friends of connections Ads which use a word of mouth type of algorithm. Also having Ads that are on the news feed is more likely to be seen when you're linking to a site and using a video or photo. My favorite is the ability for you to create a custom audience based on the demo and infographics of your target audience. All of these would be beneficial to me as a clothing brand. Whether it is posting images of new clothes or linking videos of a sponsored try on haul, or a simple ad promoting the brand that can easily be aimed toward my audience using the custom audience setting. Another I like for a clothing store with an actual storefront is the ability to promote locally allowing you to specifically target people around you that can physically go to the store rather than having your ad targeted towards people from all over. As a clothing brand, I would say that promoting once a week w...

Week 13A: Online Advertising - Analysis of the Marketplace

What draws my attention the most when it comes to sponsored posts are when they're organic and not overly promotional. Their call to actions usually include things like "shop now", "sign up", "try blank product", "watch", etc. A few post use imagery mainly when they are describing some skincare, makeup, or clothing products. Making it more appealing to potential consumers by describing it in a way that will make you want to purchase the product. The most annoying adds I always see are weight loss ones, they are very rarely true and make people think unhealthy weight loss products are ideal for everyday life. When you do click on those links they are directed to sketchy looking websites where all they have is images from Instagram posts where someone lost 30 pounds in 2 weeks which is not realistic at all. Depending on your brand and how big your company is would be a determination for me when looking at whether to use traditional advertising...
